Mazda CX-5 Offers High-End Performance
Mazda doesn’t view driving as simply a way to get from point A to point B. What would be the fun in that? The Japanese automaker believes driving should be a human experience, one that brings joy to the driver. Driving matters, that’s the motto of the company, and the emotional connection between car and driver is something their engineers and designers have strived to achieve. At Rosen Mazda we feel that same connection to the Mazdas we sell and drive ourselves. The Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring is the perfect embodiment of this philosophy. It offers Mazda drivers a high-end performance at a midmarket price and that sounds pretty good to us.
Power and Command
The front wheel drive Mazda CX-5 does offer a real driving experience and with a starting price just under $30,000 it will bring some joy too. With superior handing, the CX-5 feels more like a Miata than an SUV. This crossover provides 155 horsepower from a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine. The design of the CX-5 utilizes what the company calls “refined toughness” and while that may seem mutually exclusive, this vehicle has been stripped of all non-essential elements to offer a bold, tough look. For performance the CX-5 makes use of G-Vectoring Control, which is part of the Skyactive Vehicle Dynamics Technologies. Safety is also a critical component and i-Activsense safety features provide confidence in that area.
Design and Technology Combine
The CX-5 made its debut five years ago and was the first new-generation Mazda to feature the company’s innovative KODO design and Skyactive technology. KODO design seeks to fuse together the two elements of beauty and functionality. It is an attempt to capture the feeling of motion and combine it with a natural looking beauty that is often found in nature. Mazda compares it to an animal ready to pounce. It’s a simple concept and it works. Measuring the success of this crossover compact in numbers only, the CX-5 makes up for about 25 percent of the company’s yearly sales. That’s about 1.4 million units sold around the world as of 2016’s end.
